From December 2007 we are fully certified by The Soil Association, after being organic for nearly a decade. We make our own composts and use minimal, natural packaging and labeling, recycling wherever possible. Louvain does NOT use artificial fertilizers, chemical weed killers, fungicides or pest controls. We buy-in Summer and Autumn bedding to supplement our stock. A large range of fully-certified organic vegetables, greenhouse and herb plants are produced from May onwards. We offer a local delivery service

From 2007, part of the site is being developed for 3 passive solar, energy-efficient homes (as below) built by  Davinci Haus of Germany.

Plot for sale

Following the withdrawal of DaVinci Haus, one of the three plots is currently for sale. DaVinci Haus had planned to develop one plot themselves after gaining planning, but were unable to in the present economic climate. The double plot is at the rear of the site next to my own build, measuring roughly 60ft by 115ft. It has full planning for a 4-bedroom contemporary open-plan house similar to my own smaller one shown in the photo. The house is roughly 200 m2 with the option of another 100 m2 from full planning approval for a basement.

The site is part of an organic nursery, within the established gardens of the existing bungalow, and on the limit of the building line adjacent to the Downs. (soon to be a national park).

Several options for a build route are available. The owner of one plot is presently in negotiations with UK based companies to carry on his present build according to the planning and this may set a precedent for the rear two plots.

There is the present planning ,design and build by Davinci Haus that can be continued with themselves following the plot sale, and negotiated direct with them. A visit to their site in Germany will show the quality and design they are renowned for, and this would be their first development in the UK.

There is also the option to perhaps change the planning to a smaller house as with mine beside it, to make a symmetrically similar pair and reduce the build costs.

The plot price of £225,000 is fully serviced with all utilities ready for connection. There is a quality private block-paved road, as a small close, to access the four houses on site. New drain connections into the main sewer are included. The detailed full planning had good support on the basis of a contemporary and eco-friendly application from local planners and any sale will be to someone fully committed to such a project.
